Past Event - Back to the Fifties Bus Trip. June 23, 2002.
Bus travel to Morgantown, W. Va. To see the production of
"Forever Plaid" a musical comedy set in the fabulous fifties.
COST: $55.00 PER PERSON INCLUDES;
BUS FARE, THEATER TICKETS, LUNCH & DINNER
The following recap was supplied by
John Ott and Barb Sayenga.
Everyone enjoyed the bus trip very much. We even got lost in W Va.
(followed Map Quest Directions), and even had fun with that. We stopped
at Sarris Candies first, then had a box lunch (we made them here) on the bus; then off to Morgantown for the Forever
Plaid. It was great.
The play was worth seeing. It is about a group named Forever Plaid
that was on the way to their first big gig when they were killed in an accident. This is their chance to come back for
one performance. The group are four young singers and they do a fabulous job with the music and performance.
We had a questionnaire in there envelopes and asked the group if they wanted
to go on another day trip, or even a weekend trip; the responses were a yes.
Everyone liked the idea of the tracks, train rides, Amish country,
mystery train rides, and Niagara Casino packages.
We'll have to take a look at these possibilities. We ate at
a family run dairy farm/restaurant in 84 Pa, called the Springhouse and it was very good. We had
tossed salad, Smoked Ham, and or turkey with gravey and stuffing which was also tender and good. For desert they
had their own fresh apple pie or blueberry pie which were also raved about. We also sang Happy Birthday to
John Ott's wife Kaye, who turned the big 60 on the 21st of June.
PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED REGISTRATION FORM.

Past Event - The annual Mass and Breakfast for the living and deceased members.
May 19th, 2002
Hello 59ers
The annual Mass and Breakfast for the living and deceased members, and family members of our alumni
group, The Fifty-Niners, was held on May 19th, at St. Joseph's (St. John Vienny Parish) with 16 members attending.
Our members were recognized by the pastor, Fr. Dan, at several points during the Mass, which is always appreciated,
and leaves one feeling proud of the history of our old alma matter.
After Mass we all attended a buffet breakfast which was scheduled for our group, at the "Pointvierw Hotel" in
Brentwood. Breakfast was enjoyed as well as the chance to visit with one another.
We will have annual Mass and Breakfast Events for several years to come, thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Robert Barker,
who have made generous donations to make this an annual project possible.
The next event scheduled for the group is
the bus trip to Morgantown W. Va., to see "Forever Plaid" on June 23rd. 2002.
On July 27th., there will
be a family basket picnic in South Park, at the "Cabin".
TAKE CARE EVERYONE, TILL WE MEET AGAIN. 59ERS COMMITTEE -

Past Event-Dinner at the Bucca DiPippa - Nov. 17, 2001
November 19, 2001 Dinner at the Bucca DiPippa - Nov. 17th., was attended by twelve people. Dinner was delicious
and everyone seemed to enjoy the atmosphere and the food. The food prices are very reasonable, but the alcoholic beverages
are on the expensive side. I think we would try going there again, but make the food bill separate from the bar bill. When
having large groups of people, not everyone has alcoholic beverages but everyone does share in the large platters of
food they serve. This is a different concept of ordering and sharing for a crowd, but something worth getting used too.
I think we would all give it a thumbs up.

October 18, 2001 Dear Members of The Fifty-niners, PLEASE MAKE NOTE We have made reservations for
our group at an Italian Restaurant called Bucca DiPippa. DATE: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH. 2001
TIME: 4:30 P.M. (MEET IN LOBBY BETWEEN 4-4:15PM) The restaurant is located
behind the Grand Concourse and next to the open parking lot across from Hoolihans Rest.. The food is plentiful, excellent,
and is served family style. Prices are very reasonable. The aim of the restaurant is for the patrons to have fun
while having great food. Several of us have been there and recommend it highly. No pre-ordering, no pre-payment
required, but reservations to hold seats for the group reservation will be taken first come basis. Twenty-five reservations
have been made. Dress is Casual. We hope most of the Pittsburgh people will make plans to attend. We understand
that our people from out of town cannot attend every event we plan: but in the event anyone can make it in to join us, it
would certainly add to the spirit of the evening. Please make sure you E-mail or call, Peggy or Barbara, no later
than: NOVEMBER 7TH. TILL WE MEET AGAIN Barbara We are in the planning stages for events
for the months of: March, May/June, July/Aug. and Oct./Nov. (2002) We will have our annual May- Mass/Breakfast and we
will have our annual picnic (July or Aug.)
